The illusion of the climber reaching the top of the cliff and then pushing off on the mattress was created using a specialized tool from After Effects called motion tracker. This tool joins media sources with a naturalized keyframe motion pat. Learn more below:

After Effects motion tracker

The main video sources had a unique stone ledge that looked like a mattress corner. 

In Photoshop I isolated a still image with a similar angle then saved it with a transparent background.

Using the motion tracker tool I found a contrasting element in the cliff video then tracked it motion with key frames.

Finally I connected the video and still image sources with the motion tracker keys to produce the final video.
